Baby dAriuS is siX months old...!

Darius' milestones...

* able to sit unsupported since 2 weeks ago @ 5.5 mths old...thumbs up my boy!

* when on his tummy can only use his legs to push himself sideways but not forward

* pick up baby biscuits with his fingers

* can somehow understand wat i'm saying at times...

* able to imitate some of my actions...like shaking his head from side to side...waving his hands in the air...

* starting to show some anxiety over strangers...esp afraid of old men with big beards...

* more interested in anyting and everyting in my hands like the hp, camera, remote etc rather than toys i put in front of him...

* likes to bite food but will spit them out...

* seems less interested in breastfeeding and wants to be part of every action around him...in other words...kaypo~~~

* will stretch out his hands to show he wants to be carried

* noticed he tried to say some words...cant make out wat they were...but they still sound like babbling...

* luuuuuurvves his toes...always a struggle during diaper change....dun even wanna let them go...

Everyday watching him play is very entertaining...i know he is at the same time learning and discovering his world...watch him from being ignorant of how to play to trying to play with the toy to knowing how to play and learn from the toy...it gives me a sense of pride...and its so amazing dat in 6 mths he has grown and changed soooo much...i can still remember the newborn, the 'just ripe' human being dat was thrown into my arms on 16 Nov 2007 @ 2029 hrs...

Now dat he is into the Doing Stage, some time within the next 6 mths he will be mobile on his fours or twos, n by then he will b squirming and struggling out of my arms for freedom...
So i really cherish every moment i get to carry him though i do complain of tiredness as he is such a BIG baby...

Darius,
when u smile mummy's heart melt...and i feel on top of the world
when u cry mummy's heart break...and i feel my world came apart
when mummy scold u...i meant well...and my heart hurts
when mummy praise u...i meant it...and it comes from the bottom of my heart
There are times dat mummy do not catch ur cues...and upset u...
but please be patient with me as its my first time as a Mummy...
and i'm glad i gave my first to u...
There are times u do get on my nerves becoz u cant stop crying...
but yet i'm the only one dat can comfort u...
and how great i feel to have u all to myself...most of the times...
Everyday i have been telling u these 3 words, and i'm gonna say it again now and for the rest of my life...I LOVE U...n so do Daddy...we both LOVE u dearly...

Darius' new milestones:

* Able to pass things from one hand to another

* Saying "baba", "mama", "lala"...but "baba" came first... :(

* will drop toys and see ware they go

* luuurves splashing in the bathtub...will sign him up for swimming classes when he turns 6 mths...

* gets excited when he sees food

* presses his lips together and blows bubbles making lotsa noise...

* loves to get on the jumperoo at the playgroup and bounce...bounce...bounce!

* will return with a smile when we smile at him...

* boys will b boys...he likes playing with ball...

* Weighs 9.85kgs and if i used dat gadget correctly, he shd b 72 cm in length...

Enjoying every sec of motherhood...

Since the beginning of Apr...i have been keeping myself busy going to the Parentlink Centre @ Huntington Hills community centre...every tues noon for Baby & You drop-in sessions...ware Darius gets to make new frens n i get to meet other mums...there are many toys for babies to play with...playmats...exersaucers...building blocks...etc...n they even have the Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo which Darius likes but mummy cant afford...i managed to make frens with 2 mums...n we even arranged to meet up for coffee or have strolls at the park when the weather is good...

i also registered myself for free programs held by Calgary Health Region...every wed mornings for the Baby & You for Mums class ware we learn baby care...and also a Parenting Workshop for Newcomers every Mon noon...

starting end of apr i will start to bring Darius to the Mother Goose program which has 10 sessions all abt singing nursery rhymes n playtime n storytelling for the babies...i hope Darius will have fun with all the action going on there...

well...i might seem like a paranoid parent going for all these programs n parenting workshops...apart from learning my other objective is to make some frens here n jus get outta hse...want Darius to learn socializing nw...n i know he enjoys looking at other babies n seeing other adults rather than jus mummy all day long...

ever since i took the 1st step to break out of my shell n try to adjust n adapt to the culture here...i find myself more positive n happier...knowing dat there are many mums out there in the same situation as me...

Darius will b 5 mths old next week...so i have been experimenting to see if he is ready for solids...n it seems like he is quite ready but nt sure hw he will take them...will video his 1st solid meal in my next post...hehe...

He is actually sucking n biting the apple as i saw bite marks from his bottom teeth...
